McKinley Busen ’29 – Swimming
When you look at McKinley Busen’s stats from this past winter, it’s hard to imagine she still has three more seasons left as a Panther. Since stepping foot on campus, she has broken the 200- and 500-meter freestyle records, as well as the 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter free relay. In February, she claimed the crown at ISLs, winning the 200-meter IM, and again at the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim & Dive League’s Championships, where she won the 200-meter freestyle. McKinley has proven she doesn’t just belong amongst the elite; she can beat them outright. A first team All-State honoree, Busen placed above several upperclassmen, a feat that projects a dominant trajectory as she eyes a future full of medals. In speaking with her on the deck, her ideal walk-out song in a championship race would be “POWER” by Kanye West. She is also very proud of her superstitions and stated, “I have to eat a bagel before every meet. No matter what.” For someone putting the swimming world on notice, Busen has figured out what works and raised the floor for this Potomac Swim & Dive Team.

Colton Rodgers ’28 – Golf
Ranked 28th in the world in the Class of 2028, Colton Rodgers is quickly becoming one of the more decorated golfers in the United States and is raising the ceiling for the Potomac Golf team. His back-to-back MAC Player of the Year honors are explained by his 68.7 scoring average in championship play. That consistency was present at the state level, as well, where it earned him a share of the 2025 VISAA Individual Boys Champion and an All-State selection. Outside of school, the Titleist-sponsored athlete is arguably the most consistent force in junior golf. Over the last two seasons, he has shot 33 consecutive rounds at par or better. In his most recent season, Rodgers posted three wins and nine top-5 finishes. Yet, his most enduring legacy at Potomac, and something he takes a lot of pride in, is his leadership away from the tee box. For the past four years, he has led the American Junior Golf Association DC Metro Cup fundraiser and has raised over $200,000 in grants for the association. While his game is measured in strokes, his true value to the community is measured in the opportunities he creates for others.
