Riley Walters ‘26 goes on offense against a Brookwood player.

This Thursday, October 5th, Potomac’s varsity field hockey team faced off against Brookewood on Potomac’s home turf. Potomac turned the tide and shut out Brookewood 3-0, putting Potomac at 1-5 in the ISL conference and 3-6 overall.

Only six minutes into the game, the Panthers started well by firing an impressive shot into the goal. Thirty seconds before the quarter ended, Tara Bansal ‘26 darted through Brookewood’s defense and made an outstanding goal – ending the quarter 2-0 in favor of Potomac. Throughout the second and third quarters, Potomac’s defense remained impenetrable and no goals were scored. Riley Walters ‘26 showed remarkable stickwork and speed, weaving through Brookewood’s defense and working excellently with Merritt Leahey ‘27 and Bella Kim ‘25. The Panthers continued to play strong defense, with Ava Moazzez ‘25 scoring an impressive goal a minute before the game ended.

After the game, Riley remarked, “It felt great because our team chemistry was really good and we’re also starting a winning streak – so that’s great.”
