On February 21 and 22, Potomac Theater put on one of its most highly anticipated shows in recent memory: Legally Blonde, a musical adaptation of the iconic 2001 Reese Witherspoon movie. The show was a smash hit, with a standout performance from Vivienne Evans ‘27 as Elle Woods, a fashion merchandising major trying to make it at Harvard Law School. Just as Elle is trying something new at Harvard, this show gave many Potomac students the opportunity to try theater for the first time.
Although Potomac Theater has performed many popular and well-known shows in the past, such as Beauty and the Beast last fall and Hairspray! last spring, Legally Blonde featured a much larger ensemble cast and an expansive tech crew. Addie Wolff ‘26, who made her theater debut in hair and makeup for the show, said she thought the production was “awesome” and that “the set and the costumes [were] just great.”
Legally Blonde was also senior Wyatt Pearce’s first experience in theater. Wyatt gave a hilarious performance in the fan-favorite song “There! Right There!” as Nikos Argitakos. “I really think the diverse cast set [Legally Blonde] apart from a lot of the other shows. We had a lot of different cast members from all walks of life and all sorts of different sports coming in and having fun together.”
Karina Satoskar ‘25, who played Vivian Kensington, has been in several shows during her time at Potomac. She shared a similar sentiment: “It was really fun to get to work with a lot more people on tech, and a lot of newer actors, as well. It’s really fun to get to work with new people and figure out an acting dynamic that you haven’t experienced before because working onstage is different for everyone you work with.”
“Legally Blonde was super awesome,” Wyatt said. “Everyone should do a show at their time at Potomac.”
