The Potomac Panthers Cross Country Team recently had an excellent MAC and ISL Championship at Derwood, Maryland. The boys team was successfully able to defend their MAC title for the third consecutive year, marking the first time in Potomac history that the boys cross country team completed a three-peat of the MAC title. It was a true team effort to pull off this feat, with each runner bringing his own strengths and mindset. While each runner gave it their all, a few runners in particular had exceptional performances.
First off, Luke Carter, who competed in the Varsity A race, had an impressive time of 16 minutes and 37 seconds to win first place for his race. Additional top performers included four other Potomac runners finishing in the top ten. These included Noah Altschuler (3rd), Trip Moser (4th), Eli Levine (7th), and Zach Dalva-Baird (9th). Javi Almonte and Avi Agrawal both finished in the top 20.
In terms of the JV race, Hugh Antonik (3rd) and Alexander Bauer (7th) were top-10 finishers. Additional competitors were Sawyer Storm, Wyatt Pearce, Aidan Muhat, William Forkner, Lakan Singson, Anthony Cipriani, Gabriel Martin, and Finn Nagoski.
Also for the boys, in the freshman/sophomore races, Josh Reinecke crushed the competition with an incredible time of 18:58.50. Burke Campbell, Aidan Yuan, Hugh Holtman, Ajay Majmudar, Jack Pinkus, and Luke Bauer also had commendable races. Great job boys!
The girls also had an exceptional showing in the very competitive ISL races. The Varsity girls runners for Potomac included Sabrina Anderson, Rose Barbanov, Ellie Widor, Avery Miller, Quinn Brundage, and Ella Lu, who all placed in the top 60. Our JV girls team had two top-10 finishers: Isabella Song and Aaryn Vactor. In addition, Hailey Quigley, Charlotte Gabriel, Ariellle Kouyoumdijian, Annie Patterson-Cox, Kate Choi, Esther Choi, and Jessica Raman all had fast finishes. Great way to finish out the season, girls!
