This Thursday, September 28, Potomac’s varsity field hockey team faced off against rival Episcopal at the team’s home turf field. In a tightly contested match with several lead changes, the Episcopal team prevailed 3-4. This loss put Potomac at 1-5, well down in the ISL standings.

Anna Castellano ‘26 scored Potomac’s first goal at the end of the first quarter, which ended 1-0 in favor of Potomac. After the game, she said about having scored the first goal that “We haven’t really been doing well in the season so it was really good to get a goal within the first 10 minutes of the game because it really shifted our energy.” No points were scored in the second quarter.

Episcopal scored their first point five minutes into the third quarter and then scored nine minutes into the third quarter. Anna scored twice more, giving her all three of Potomac’s goals. After Anna’s last goal, the score was tied 3-3 and the game went into overtime. It ended in a heartbreaking moment when Episcopal scored and won the game 4-3.
