Guys and Dolls To Light Up EPAC
Guys and Dolls premieres on Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th. Set in 1950s New York, the show centers around a group of gamblers and their “dolls.”
Guys and Dolls, packed with musical and dance numbers, was just as fun to put together as it will be to watch. Charlie Everhart ‘25, a member of the ensemble cast, says she was excited “to see how it all comes together because everyone is so talented.” Everhart also mentioned how there are “going to be really good dynamics between people” on stage as everyone has grown closer throughout the process.
Because this will be Potomac’s first maskless theater production since Pippin! In 2019, the cast is feeling particularly excited to show off their skills after months of preparation. Playing Miss Adelaide, Andrea Villafuerte says that Guys and Dolls is “the perfect show to do as our musical debut since COVID.” She is excited to be back to an in-person, maskless tech week capped off by three performances.
The projected success of Guys and Dolls wouldn’t be possible without the interim theater director, Ms. Stephanie Miller, Upper School Theater Teacher. Claire Coleman, playing the role of Sarah Brown, attests to how “she’s so organized, in the best way” and how they’re “getting a lot of stuff done really quickly, which is nice.” Ms. Miller’s methodical approach has allowed the cast and crew to channel their excitement towards productive yet fun rehearsals which result in the cohesive cast and show Everhart commented on. Mr. Long, US math teacher choreographed the fight scenes.
Guys and Dolls has something for everyone to enjoy! Make sure to reserve your tickets (free of charge) in the dining hall the week leading up to the show and come experience the fun on Friday, March 4th at 6:30 pm, Saturday, March 5th at 2 pm, and/or Saturday, March 5th at 7 pm.
