As the fall athletic season commences at Potomac, students are more eager than ever for the thrill of interscholastic sports competitions. On September 1st, student-athletes participating in the fall sports season met for Media Day. Junior Caroline Norton echoed the feelings of many of her teammates on the varsity volleyball team, that preseason “has been going well, we have a lot of freshmen on the team and have been trying to get to know them. We also have a new coach.” Freshman Adelina Rogers also answered that being able to play on a varsity Potomac sports team, “is a really exciting experience that allows me to play with older girls which will help me progress, as a volleyball player.” This excitement and anticipation expressed by the volleyball team is felt by all of the fall teams, especially the varsity soccer team. Senior Andrew Mesa said that he was more than excited to be able to get back on the soccer field and “is looking forward to going far in the state tournament this year.” Additionally, the camaraderie between upperclassmen and lower classmen on each team seems to be at its strongest this year. Will Bennet, a freshman soccer player, stated “I’m excited to score lots of goals and have a good time with Junior Miles Monroe!” Senior Olivia Agolini also added that the Cross Country team, “did a lot of team bonding during the XC cabin trip which was really fun, and I feel like we have a good connection together and it’s going to be a great season to all work together in these meets.” The Potomac Panthers are geared up for this upcoming fall season. We are so excited to see the Panthers back in action and cannot wait to see how this season goes!
